The importance of social media
Social media has become such a big part of how companies operate, especially within the creative sector where visibility is such an important factor. The different platforms provide a great way to not only share the work you create, but also to express your process and thoughts. It is a space for constant collaboration, a place for back-and-forth inspiration, shared services and conversations that can spark new ways of thinking.
Social media allows brands to connect with their audience in a more authentic way, to express personality and perspectives. It creates a stronger bond between clients and studios, creating a deeper understanding of who you are and how you work -something that is often missing when a brand lacks emotional consistency.
This also circles back to our existing blog post on the use of AI within the creative industry, where we discussed the importance of maintaining individuality and not solely relying on a robot! Social media allows us to do exactly that, we can express who we are through sharing the work we create, our well-considered creative direction, and communicate in a way that feels both natural and authentic. Authenticity is something AI cannot replace.
At KYAK, we see social media as an extension to our design process, a place to promote, share our thinking and spark new connections. The consistency through platforms with alignment to our website, helps humanise our studio and strengthen our identity. Regardless of the sector, a brand is built through consumer perception. Every interaction contributes to how people see and feel about you, and you have the ability to shape that narrative in a positive way. A quote by Marty Neumeier that always comes to mind is “A brand is not what YOU say it is, it’s what THEY say it is”. It gives an important reminder to always consider your audience, to see things from their perspective and resonate with them on both a personal and emotional level.
Choosing the right channels
Not every platform works the same way, so it’s about understanding where your audience is and how best to engage with them. At KYAK we create bespoke solutions that feel authentic to the client and most suitable to their audience.
Instagram and Facebook often work hand in hand, offering similar opportunities for promotion. However, Instagram seems to be quicker paced, a place to share visuals, process and informal updates through stories and reels – keeping your audience engaged between feed posts. LinkedIn offers a more professional space, a platform for industry insight and to connect through perspectives.
Timing also makes a difference, consistency is key! By posting and sharing content when your audience is most active helps maintain visibility and engagement. It’s also about pacing your content and not sharing everything at once as it may lose its impact. Stories can be used to stay present day-to-day while feed posts can be scheduled more intentionally to support design work, campaigns or any key moments.
Ultimately, social media is about maintaining presence with purpose. When used intentionally, it becomes more than a marketing tool and a space for genuine connection and growth.
